Pink Saturday–Ephemera

I have always loved vintage ephemera.  All the wonderful cards and paper items from the early days.

I ran across some wonderful sheet music the other day and I just had to play with my computer.  Here are the results!

A wonderful photograph by Eva.  See her other photographs here.

Now we do not have to blow our food program for the day,  just look at all the sweets and do not gain an ounce.

Thanks for visiting.

. . .Raggedy Ann’s–Then and Now. . .

I have always loved Raggedy Ann.  I never had a Raggedy Ann doll when I was young.  Maybe that is why I create them today.

Rose-Annie-11-1

I looked up the history of Raggedy Ann and this is what I found.

Raggedy Ann is a fictional character created by American writer Johnny Gruelle (1880–1938) in a series of books he wrote and illustrated for young children. Raggedy Ann is a rag doll with red yarn for hair and has a triangle nose. The character was created in 1915 as a doll, and was introduced to the public in the 1918 book Raggedy Ann Stories. A doll was also marketed along with the book to great success. A sequel, Raggedy Andy Stories (1920) introduced the character of her brother, Raggedy Andy, dressed in sailor suit and hat.

Today you see many versions of Raggedy Ann.  Here are a couple of doll artists that I love.  Their Raggedy Ann’s are so cute!

The first lovely lady is Carolyn Moyer Hudacek from Charmings by CMH. This is her latest Irish Annie. She is just beautiful!  I hope you can stop by her blog here, to see some of her other things.

Warm Wednesday–New Quilt

Back in December I was able to finish piecing several quilt tops.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Now it is time to begin quilting them.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the first one I am going to work on!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is called the red pinwheel!

It is approximately 20” square.  I have some wonderful feather designs I want to stitch into this quilt.

I will give you a progress report next week, and maybe even show you the backing fabric!

Thanks for stopping by…
